Jan Hammerstad, NSMiF/p – Denmark

Jan Hammerstad (born 1965) is a photographer who discovered his passion for photography at the age of 13, inspired by an exceptional photography teacher at school. He photographed actively until around 1988, then took a break before returning to photography in 1998. During this time, the world of photography transitioned from analog to digital, and Jan quickly embraced the new technology—never looking back.

In the years leading up to 2013, his work was highly versatile. However, after turning professional in 2013, he shifted his focus to portrait and model photography. Today, Jan is deeply engaged in art photography, meticulously staging each element in the studio as part of his creative process.

He runs his own studio in Herlev and regularly participates in international photography salons. He is a member of several prestigious photography organisations, including PSA, FIAP, GPU, IAAP, DIPA, and SDF, and holds numerous distinctions. Additionally, he is part of the Danish photography group Momento.
